Use the two-food rule
A snack can do more than fill a gap. Pair two food groups to make it more satisfying: fruit with yogurt, vegetables with hummus, cheese with whole-grain crackers, or dates with a suitable protein choice.
The combination adds contrast in flavor and texture while helping the snack feel complete without becoming another full meal.
Pack for the moment
A classroom break calls for tidy, quick foods. An after-school activity may need something more substantial. Match the portion, packaging and temperature needs to when and where the snack will be eaten.
Keep variety without waste
Rotate one element at a time. Keep a familiar base and change the fruit, dip or crunchy side. This creates interest while protecting the comfort of foods children already accept.
Please remember: For diagnosed allergies, medical conditions or individual nutrition concerns, follow guidance from a qualified healthcare professional and your school's official care process.
